Dough Magazine is a hybrid print and digital publication that deconstructs complex economic phenomena for a coming-of-age or Gen-Z readership. Through accessible but engaging and lighthearted language, our written and visual content will break down complexity in the world of finance and economics, veering away from unintelligible industry slang and academic jargon.

Its function acts as a mirror to its title “Dough,” a playful synonym for money that originated in the 19th century when the accumulation or earning of one’s money was equivalent to the earning of one’s food or bread. But unlike its etymology, Dough’s playful twang alludes to its contents; taking heavy subject matter and rendering it into more easily consumable information for a digitally and informationally over-stimulated demographic. By centering a single macroeconomic topic per issue, we take advantage of the slow nature of print whilst utilizing familiar (internet-born) language, pop cultural references, visual storytelling techniques and innovative but long-form cultural criticism
